KEVIN ACKLIN SECURES INDEPENDENT NOMINATION FOR MAYOR
PITTSBURGH - Early this afternoon, Kevin Acklin filed nomination papers with the Allegheny County Board of Elections containing the requisite number of signatures to secure a place on the ballot in the November 3rd general election for Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh. Today's filing secures Acklin's status as the Independent candidate for mayor who will face off against the winner of the Democratic primary in the fall.
"I'm honored by the encouragement that so many Pittsburghers have given to me me and to the prospect of my candidacy," Acklin said. "Together we can focus on the important work of realizing Pittsburgh's full potential."
Acklin, who has spent the last few months meeting with and listening to the concerns of people all across the city, will formally announce his candidacy at a campaign kick-off event in the first week of June.
"I've believed in Pittsburgh my whole life, and now I'm going to work as hard as I can in every single neighborhood to get Pittsburghers to believe in me and my vision for a better Pittsburgh," Acklin said.
Acklin is available for comment today.
