Kevin Acklin Makes First TV Ad Buy of Mayoral Campaign
Independent candidate's "Making a Difference" spot starts running today
PITTSBURGH - Kevin Acklin, the Independent candidate for Mayor of Pittsburgh, has purchased the first TV ad buy of the fall campaign. The ad, titled "Making a Difference," begins airing today on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, and Headline News during day-time and prime-time rotation.
"We're proud to be the first campaign on TV in this election. It's a testament to how serious we are about bringing new leadership on neighborhood investment, crime, and jobs to Grant Street," said Acklin. "We're the hardest working campaign in this race, no doubt about it. Voters have been seeing and hearing from us at their doors for months, and now they're going to be seeing and hearing from us on TV through Election Day."

The ad focuses on Acklin's community involvement across Pittsburgh's neighborhoods, depicting scenes from his travels across the city and throughout the campaign, including clips from door-knocking in Homewood and Lawrenceville, a neighborhood walking tour in Beechview, and talking with fire fighters in Brookline.
The script for the ad reads:
NARRATOR: Kevin Acklin's story is a story of problems solved, odds defied, and obstacles overcome. His whole life has been about getting involved and making a difference, and its led him to this moment.
KEVIN ACKLIN: You know, I believe that Pittsburgh's best days are ahead of us, I really do. And I also believe that if our government can reflect the best of what we have to offer as a community, then there's really no limit to how great Pittsburgh can be.
